Trials and Tribulations of being an Outlander Fan(atic): What have I done?

Written by: Holly Richter-White

Mostly, during my life when I've exclaimed, “What have I done!?”, I've meant it as a rhetorical question, but not so as an Outlander fan  For me, as an Outlander fan, it’s interpreted quite literally.

NYC Tartan Week 2016 and Outlander: Perfect Together

Written by: Teddie Potter

This is the first installment in a series

I'm not Scots, although, like Claire, I say I am Scots by marriage, as my husband's family is from the Isle of Mull  (his grandparent. Just the one). Since encountering the Outlander series of books and the Starz TV adaptation, something remarkable has happened to this American woman of Greek descent: I find it perfectly acceptable to conduct myself as if I am somehow Scottish by birth.  This being the case, I will again be participating in Tartan Week activities in New York City this April.

Entertainment Weekly Drops a (Photo) Bomb . . . and it's Nuclear!

Written by: Kendra Spring Klasek

I was minding my own business at home, nursing a chest cold and chasing my two year old when I got a text from my sister which radically altered my ability to function and put coherent sentences together.

Her commentary accompanying the image she sent isn't printable here, but of course, could you blame her?

Why did Starz change its Outlander trailer?

Written By: Janet Reynolds

                                             *SPOILER ALERT*

Last week Starz released its first hint at what Season Two of Outlander holds in store for us in a trailer that had TV-only viewers shaking their heads in shock at the last image. This weekend, someone somewhere in the Starz marketing machine made a Big Mistake and leaked the Season Two trailer that had been originally released at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Jan. 8. It was only up for a few hours on Vimeo (never on the official Starz site or YouTube) but what a few hours it was. Having watched it a few times before it disappeared — thank you Outlander-Italy — we can say this much is absolutely clear: Toto, we're not in the 18th century anymore. Like touching the stones, click through for more details at your own risk.

The Case Studies of Claire Randall Fraser, Healer

Written by: Teddie Potter

Claire Randall first spoke to me as a nurse. Healing from the heart and also by touch is a skill, a gift, and for others like Claire, a calling that often goes beyond the human instinct of self-preservation. In a world sadly in need of empathy and compassion, Claire's work resonates in the interweaving  themes of love and survival that drive Diana Gabaldon's Outlander novels.

The French Connection: Au Revoir France/Fa’ilte Dhachaidh*

*Gaelic for Welcome Home

The French Connection?? Gene Hackman?…no, not that French connection…

As the excitement of award session wanes, we await the upcoming season 2 of Outlander with hints from the Outlander crew about  how amazingly 18th Century France will be portrayed.  After which, to quote Sam Heughan, “ . . . we go back to Scotland, where we go back to the blood and mud and gore”.  Did you ever wonder why Claire and Jamie are headed to France with the expressed purpose to change history? Or is it the future? Whatever.  In the season finale, we are told there are Frasers in France. But why? And what is Bonnie Prince Charlie doing there?  Is this some French getaway package that he got on Priceline….oops, time jumping.

Favorite Lines from the Outlander Show

Written By: Janet Reynolds

I don't know about the rest of you, but it feels as if #droughtlander will never end. The folks at Outlander Starz continue to toy with us, promising a season two premiere in April — sometime. Meanwhile, touch grumpy.

To help pass the time, I decided to do a wrap-up of favorite lines from the TV show. Some of them are right from the book, because let's face it, the main reason the show is so good is because the original material exists. Thank you Diana Gabaldon. To prep for this post, I needed to  rewatch the episodes again do a lot of important research to find these quotes. I also asked around the web and social media for suggestions. Here, without further ado, are some of my — and your — favorite lines from the TV show. It's not complete, but of course we can all keep adding to it (add your favorites in the comment section below) — and rewatching the episodes again. :)
